William was born in "Westover", Charles City Co., VA.1   William's father was William Byrd and his mother was Mary Horsmanden.  His paternal grandparents were John Byrd and Grace Stegge; his maternal grandfather was Maurice Horsmanden. He had three sisters named Susan, Mary and Ursula.  He died on August 26th, 1744 in "Westover", Charles City Co., VA.1
