Joan was born about 1250 in Of, Shere, Surrey, England.  Joan's father was John FitzGeoffrey Sir and her mother was Isabel Bigod.  Her paternal grandparents were Geoffrey FitzPiers , Earl of Essex 4th and Eveline de Clare; her maternal grandparents were Hugh Earl Of Norfolk Bigod and Maude Marshall , Countess Of Norfolk. She had two brothers and four sisters, named John, Richard, Isabel, Lady Maud, Aveline and Aveline Fitz. She had a half-brother and two half-sisters, named Walter De, Margery De and Maud.  She died on April 4th, 1303.
