Eleanor (Alinore) was born in October 1292 in Caerphilly Castle, Glamorgan.  Eleanor (Alinore)'s father was Gilbert the Red de Clare and her mother was Joan of Acre Plantagenet.  Her paternal grandparents were Richard de Clare and Maude de Lacy; her maternal grandparents were Edward I Longshanks Plantagenet of England and Eleanor of Castile & Leon. She had a brother and two sisters, named Gilbert, Margaret and Elizabeth. She had two half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Edward, Thomas, Joan, Isabella, Mary and Joan.  She died at the age of 44 on June 30th, 1337.

‌Eleanor (Alinore) and Hugh the Younger were married in a religious ceremony before June 14th, 1306 in Westminster Abbey, London, England.  They had two sons and two daughters, named Hugh, Edward, Isabel and Elizabeth.
