Maud (Matilda) was born about 1180.  Maud (Matilda)'s father was Richard FitzRoger de Clare and her mother was Amicia FitzRobert of Gloucester.  Her paternal grandparents were Roger the Good de Clare and Maud de St. Hilary du Harcourt; her maternal grandparents were Wiliam FitzRobert of Gloucester and Margaret de Paganel de Beaumont. She had two brothers and a sister, named Richard (Roger), Gilbert the Younger and Joan.  She was the second oldest of the four children.  She died in 1213.

‌Maud (Matilda) and William IV the Younger were married in a religious ceremony about 1197.  They had a son and a daughter, named John and Maud.


Maud (Matilda)'s second family with Roger Helle de Lacy

They had a son named John.
