John was born before 1235 in Brembye, Sussex, England.  John's father was William IV the Younger de Braose and his mother was Maud (Matilda) de Clare.  His paternal grandparents were William III de Braose and Maud de St. Valerie de Haye; his maternal grandparents were Richard FitzRoger de Clare and Amicia FitzRobert of Gloucester. He had a sister named Maud.  He was the younger of the two children. He had a half-brother named John.  He died on July 18th, 1232 in Brembye, Sussex, England.
