Roger II was born in Normandy, France.  Roger II's father was Roger I the Great de Montgomery and his mother was Josceline de Bolbec.  His paternal grandfather was Hugh de Montgomery and his paternal grandmother is Sibell de Crepon; his maternal grandfather was Osborn I de Bolbec and his maternal grandmother is Wevia (Duceline) de Crepon. He had a brother named William.  He died on July 27th, 1094 in Shrewsbury.  He was buried in Abbey of St. Peter, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England.


Roger II's first family with Mabel Talvas de Alencon-Belleme

‌Roger II and Mabel Talvas were married in a religious ceremony in 1048.  They had six sons and four daughters, named Roger, Robert II, Hugh, Arnulph, Philip Grammaticus, Roger the Poitevin, Matilda, Sybil, Emma and Mabel.
