Amasa Owen Crosiar 
Amasa Owen was born on October 12th, 1817 in Flatboat on the Ohio River, Clermont County,Ohio. Amasa Owen's father was Simon Crosiar and his mother was Sarah H. Owen. His paternal grandparents were John Simon Crosiar and Jane Hert; his maternal grandparents were Amasa Owen and Sarah Osborn. He had five brothers and two sisters, named Eli, Simon, William, Jacob, Asa, Mary Ann and Sarah Ann. He was the oldest of the eight children. He died at the age of 67 on November 7th, 1884 in Utica Township, La Salle County, Illinois. He was buried in Oakhill Cemetery, Utica, La Salle County, Illinois.General Notes

have more about the Brown girls and Amasa. He was quite a character.
He spoke seven Indian dialects and was among the party that came upon the
Indian Creek Massacre. He helped build the Illinois Michigan Canal and
received land as payment, where he built a store that traded between the
white and Indian settlers. I have a pen sketch of him. I believe it was
Lovina that fended off an Indian invasion of her home (they wanted
whishkey). They were humored by her attempt and told her she was a brave
squaw (but took her whiskey, anyway).
