Edmund I was born about 1252 in Wigmore, Herefordshire.  Edmund I's father was Roger I Mortimer and his mother was Maud Matilda deBraose.  His paternal grandparents were Ralph deMortimer and Queen Gladys (The Dark) Wales; his maternal grandparents were Lord William de Braose and Eva Marshall. He had a brother and a sister, named Edmund and Isabella.  He was the youngest of the three children.  He died on July 17th, 1304.  He was buried in 1304 in Wigmore, Herefordshire.
