Maud Matilda was born in 1230 in Bramber Castle, Bramber, Sussex, England.  Maud Matilda's father was Lord William de Braose and her mother was Eva Marshall.  Her paternal grandparents were Reginald de Braose and Grecia Alice Briwere; her maternal grandparents were Earl William Marshall and Countess Isabel de Clare. She had a sister named Eleanor.  She was the older of the two children.


Maud Matilda's first family with Roger I Mortimer

‌Maud Matilda and Roger I were married in a religious ceremony in 1247 in Cwmaron Castle, Radnor, Wales.  They had two sons and a daughter, named Edmund, Edmund I and Isabella.
