Bertha was born about 1130 in Gloucester, Gloucestershire, England.  Bertha's father was Earl Miles Fitzwalter and her mother was Sybil de Neufmarche.  Her paternal grandparents were Walter Fitz Roger and Emma de Baallun; her maternal grandparents were Bernard de Neufmarche , Lord of Brecon and Nesta verch Osborn.  She was an only child.  She died in 1204.


Bertha's first family with William II de Braose

‌Bertha and William II were married in a religious ceremony about 1150 in England.1   They had two sons and three daughters, named William, William III, Sybil, Bertha and Susan.


Bertha's second family with Earl Robert de Ferrers

They had a daughter named Bertha.
