William I the Lion was born in 1143 in Scotland.1   William I the Lion's father was Henry of Huntington Earl of Huntington and his mother was Adelaide (Ada) de Warenne.  His paternal grandparents were David I King of Scotland and Matilda (Maud) of Northumbria; his maternal grandparents were William de Warenne II Earl of Warren & Surrey and Isabella Capet de Crépi. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Malcolm IV the Maiden, David of Huntington, Ada, Margaret de Huntington and Mathilda.  He died at the age of 71 on December 4th, 1214 in Stirling, Scotland.1
