Duncan I the Gracious was born in 1007 in of Atholl, Perthshire, Scotland.1   Duncan I the Gracious' father was Crinan (Grimus) de Mormaer and his mother was Bethoc Mac Kenneth.  His paternal grandfather was Duncan Mormaer of Atholl; his maternal grandfather was Malcolm II King of Scotland. He had a brother named Maldred of Scotland.  He was the older of the two children.  He died  due to Killed by MacBeth, his successor. at the age of 33 on August 14th, 1040 in Iona, nearMoray, Scotland or Iona, near Elgin, Scotland.1
