David I was born about 1080 in Scotland.1   David I's father was Malcolm III Caennmor King of Scotland and his mother was St. Margaret the Exile of Wessex.  His paternal grandparents were Duncan I the Gracious King of Scotland and Aelflaed (Sybil) of Northumbria; his maternal grandparents were Edward the Outlaw Atheling of England and Agatha von Brunswick. He had three sisters named Matilda Canmore of, Mary Canmore of and Thora Canmore of. He had a half-brother named Duncan II.  He died on May 24th, 1153 in Carlisle, Cumberland, England.1
