William Longespée was born in 1176 in Woodstock Manor.1   William Longespée's father was Henry II Plantagenet and his mother was Ida (Isabel) Plantagenet.  His paternal grandparents were Geoffrey IV the Fair Angevin King of England and Mathilda (Adelaide) Queen of England; his maternal grandparents were Hamelin Plantagenet de Anjou Earl of Surrey and Isabel de Warenne. He had seven half-brothers and five half-sisters, named William, Richard I the Lionheart, Geoffrey, John Lackland Plantagenet, Henry, William, Hugh le Bigod, Maud Matilda, Alianor, Joan, Mary and Margaret.  He died in Amesbury, Wiltshire, England.1
