William was born in 1723 in Lower Darwen and his baptism took place on September 15th, 1723 in Blackburn.¹

Birth Notes

William's father was Edmund Howarth and his mother was Catherine Pickering. His paternal grandparents were John Howarth and Ann Howard. He had two brothers and four sisters, named John, Thomas, Ann, Lawrence, Alice and Ann. He was the fourth oldest of the seven children. He had a half-brother and two half-sisters, named Edward, Jane and Mary.
