Jane was born in November 1736 in Lower Darwen and her baptism took place on November 19th, 1736 at St. Mary-the-Virgin (Blackburn).¹

Birth Notes

Jane's father was Edmund Howarth and her mother was Margaret Wigglesworth. Her paternal grandparents were John Howarth and Ann Howard. She had a brother and a sister, named Edward and Mary. She was the oldest of the three children. She had three half-brothers and four half-sisters, named John, Thomas, William, Ann, Lawrence, Alice and Ann.
