Mathew was born in 1779 in Killingholme, Lincoln, England and his christening took place there on September 12th, 1779.  Mathew's father was Mathew Rack and his mother was Jane Paddison.  His paternal grandparents were William Rack and Anne Sommerscales. He had two brothers and five sisters, named John, James, Rebecca, Jane, Arabella, Ann and Billy.  He was the third youngest of the eight children. He had a half-sister named Mary.  He died at the age of 1 in 1780 in Killingholme, Lincoln, England.
