James was born in 1773 in Killingholme, Lincoln, England and his christening took place there on May 16th, 1773.  James' father was Mathew Rack and his mother was Jane Paddison.  His paternal grandparents were William Rack and Anne Sommerscales. He had two brothers and five sisters, named John, Mathew, Rebecca, Jane, Arabella, Ann and Billy.  He was the third oldest of the eight children. He had a half-sister named Mary.  He died in 1773 in Killingholme, Lincoln, England.
