Mary was born in 1768 in North Kelsey, Lincoln, England and her christening took place there on July 8th, 1768.  Mary's father was William Rack and her mother was Eleanor Lamin.  Her paternal grandparents were William Rack and Anne Sommerscales. She had three brothers and six sisters, named Mathew, William, Joseph, Ann, Isabel, Eleanor, Mary, Elizabeth and Eleanor.  She was the fourth oldest of the ten children.
