James Russell Bittan

James was born on October 1st, 1893 in Philadelphia.¹ James' father was Benjamin Bittan and his mother was Rose (Rosa) Heiser. His paternal grandparents were Benjamin Bittan and Esther Levy; his maternal grandparents were Abraham Heiser and Sarah Levy. He had three brothers and six sisters, named Benjamin, Samuel, Reuben, Esther, Elizabeth, Sadie, Julia, Lottie and Josephine. He was the seventh oldest of the ten children. He died at the age of 77 on January 26th, 1971.¹
