Kate was born in March 1875 in South Stoneham, Hampshire.1   Kate's father was Charles Haymer and her mother was Eliza Harrison.  Her paternal grandparents were James Haymer and Lucy; her maternal grandparents were Henry Harrison and Ann Robinson. She had four sisters named Alice, Mary, Agnes and Phoebe.  She was the second youngest of the five children. She had five half-brothers and five half-sisters, named Charles, William, Edward, Arthur, Frederick, Florence, Alice, Bessie, Nellie and Edith.
