Charles was born in December 1881 in South Stoneham, Hampshire.1   Charles' father was Charles Haymer and his mother was Sarah Callun.  His paternal grandparents were James Haymer and Lucy. He had four brothers and five sisters, named William, Edward, Arthur, Frederick, Florence, Alice, Bessie, Nellie and Edith.  He was the second oldest of the ten children. He had five half-sisters named Alice, Mary, Agnes, Kate and Phoebe.
