Hannah was born in 1718 in Newton Toney, Wiltshire and her christening took place there on January 14th, 1718.1   Hannah's father was Joseph Girle and her mother was Sarah Reed.  Her paternal grandparents were John Girle and Joane Grace. She had two brothers and four sisters, named Joseph, Edward, Sarah, Rachel, Susannah and Jane.  She was the second oldest of the seven children. She had a half-brother named William.
