Edward was born in 1727 in Newton Toney, Wiltshire and his christening took place there on March 5th, 1727.1   Edward's father was Joseph Girle and his mother was Sarah Reed.  His paternal grandparents were John Girle and Joane Grace. He had a brother and five sisters, named Joseph, Sarah, Hannah, Rachel, Susannah and Jane.  He was the second youngest of the seven children. He had a half-brother named William.  He died at the age of 1 in 1728 in Newton Toney, Wiltshire.1
