Ann was born in 1765 in Ford, Laverstock, Wiltshire and her baptism took place on February 10th, 1765 in Laverstock, Wiltshire.1   Ann's father was Thomas Cannings and her mother was Ann Austence.  Her maternal grandparents were Daniel Austence and Martha Amer. She had four brothers and a sister, named James, Thomas, Daniel, William and Betty.  She was the oldest of the six children.
