Sarah was born in 1839 in Drax, Yorkshire and her christening took place there on April 23rd, 1839.1 2   Sarah's father was Charles Brown and her mother was Sarah Brewins. She had two brothers and six sisters, named William, Charles, Anne, Mary, Jane, Elizabeth, Margaret and Emma.  She was the fourth oldest of the nine children.
