Jane was born in 1837 in Drax, Yorkshire and her christening took place there on March 5th, 1837.1 2  Jane's father was Charles Brown and her mother was Sarah Brewins. She had two brothers and six sisters, named William, Charles, Anne, Mary, Sarah, Elizabeth, Margaret and Emma.  She was the third oldest of the nine children.  She died at the age of 22 in September 1859 in Selby, Yorkshire.3
