Elizabeth was born in 1841 in Drax, Yorkshire and her christening took place there on November 7th, 1841.1 2   Elizabeth's father was Charles Brown and her mother was Sarah Brewins. She had two brothers and six sisters, named William, Charles, Anne, Mary, Jane, Sarah, Margaret and Emma.  She was the fifth oldest of the nine children.
