Anne was born in 1833 in Rawcliffe, East Riding, Yorkshire and her christening took place there on April 21st, 1833.1 2   Anne's father was Charles Brown and her mother was Sarah Brewins. She had two brothers and six sisters, named William, Charles, Mary, Jane, Sarah, Elizabeth, Margaret and Emma.  She was the oldest of the nine children.
