Mathew was born on July 1st, 1874 in Fisherrow Inveresk Musselburgh Mid Lothian Scotland.  Mathew's father was Mathew Comb and his mother was Jane Scott.  His paternal grandparents were Mathew Comb and Mary Crombie; his maternal grandparents were Alexander Scott and Jane Alexander. He had three brothers and four sisters, named Richard, James, Alexander, Jane, Mary, Ann and Agnes.  He was the second oldest of the eight children.  He died at the age of 70 on June 15th, 1945 in Northumberland C Reg Dist England.
