Joseph's father was Andrew Taylor and his mother was Ann Scoffield.  His maternal grandparents were James Scoffield and Jane Bone. He had five brothers and six sisters, named James, Andrew, Robert, Andrew, David, Barbra, Annie, Jannet, Janet, Mary and Jane.  He was the youngest of the twelve children.  He died at the age of 70 on July 28th, 1901 in Loudon.
