Mary's father was Henry Keegens and her mother was Elizabeth McSephany. Her paternal grandparents were Hugh Keggans and Agnes Robertson. She had seven brothers and a sister, named Hugh, William, Henry, George, Richard, Thomas, Richard and Agnes. She was the second youngest of the nine children. She died at the age of 77 on January 9th, 1976 in Muirkirk. She was buried in Muirkirk.
