Henry's father was Hugh Keggans and his mother was Agnes Robertson. His maternal grandparents were George Robertson and Martha Carlton McGloughlane. He had six brothers and seven sisters, named George, Hugh, George, John, William, Hugh, Allison, Martha, Alison, Martha, Susannah, Mary and Agnes. He was the third oldest of the fourteen children. He died at the age of 47 in 1906 in Kilmarnock.³
