Agnes' father was Henry Keegens and her mother was Elizabeth McSephany. Her paternal grandparents were Hugh Keggans and Agnes Robertson. She had seven brothers and a sister, named Hugh, William, Henry, George, Richard, Thomas, Richard and Mary. She was the fourth youngest of the nine children.
