James Aitken

James was born in 1829 in Ayrshire.¹   James' father was James Aitken and his mother was Janet Aird.  His maternal grandparents were Thomas Aird and Helen Crawford. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Thomas, John, Matthew, Lawrence, Nancy, Elisabeth, Ellennora and Janet.  He was the third oldest of the nine children.
