Margaret was born on April 10th, 1795.  Margaret's father was Alexander McCracken and her mother was Margaret possibly Marshall.  Her maternal grandparents were Capt Henry Marshall and Mattie possibly Chambers. She had nine brothers and four sisters, named Henry, William, Robert Marshall, James, Alexander, Henry, John Murry, Arthur, Mary Polly, Sarah, Lillie, Martha and Jane.  She was the tenth oldest of the fourteen children.
