John Murry was born on April 1st, 1799.  John Murry's father was Alexander McCracken and his mother was Margaret possibly Marshall.  His maternal grandparents were Capt Henry Marshall and Mattie possibly Chambers. He had eight brothers and five sisters, named Henry, William, Robert Marshall, James, Alexander, Henry, Arthur, Mary Polly, Sarah, Lillie, Martha, Margaret and Jane.  He was the eleventh oldest of the fourteen children.
