Her paternal grandparents were George Washington Garton and Mary Susan Shipley. She had six brothers and five sisters, named Charles Lee, Louis Lyle, Lloyd Orville, Claire Allen, Mardis Woodrow, James Richard, Ufa Imogene, Fern Elizabeth, Annetta Mary, LaRue Ellen and Alice Adelle. She was the fourth youngest of the twelve children. She died at the age of 73 on September 19th, 1982 in Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa, USA. She was buried in Lewisburg Cemetery, Clay Township, Wayne County, Iowa, USA.1 1 -
