Claire Allen was born on July 7th, 1906 in , Wayne County, Iowa, USA.1 Claire Allen's father was William Preston Garton and his mother was Maude Alice Caldwell. His paternal grandparents were George Washington Garton and Mary Susan Shipley. He had five brothers and six sisters, named Charles Lee, Louis Lyle, Lloyd Orville, Mardis Woodrow, James Richard, Ufa Imogene, Fern Elizabeth, Annetta Mary, LaRue Ellen, Doris Dean and Alice Adelle. He was the fifth youngest of the twelve children. He died at the age of 47 on August 17th, 1953. He was buried in Restland Cemetery, Baxter, Jasper County, Iowa, USA.1 1 -
