Charles Lee was born on February 9th, 1898 in , Wayne County, Iowa, USA.1 Charles Lee's father was William Preston Garton and his mother was Maude Alice Caldwell. His paternal grandparents were George Washington Garton and Mary Susan Shipley. He had five brothers and six sisters, named Louis Lyle, Lloyd Orville, Claire Allen, Mardis Woodrow, James Richard, Ufa Imogene, Fern Elizabeth, Annetta Mary, LaRue Ellen, Doris Dean and Alice Adelle. He was the fourth oldest of the twelve children. He died at the age of 58 on December 27th, 1956. He was buried in Lewisburg Cemetery, Clay Township, Wayne County, Iowa, USA.1 General Notes
