Margaret was born in 1336 in Dundonald, Ayrshire, Scotland.  Margaret's father was Robert II Stewart and her mother was Euphemia Leslie of Ross.  Her paternal grandparents were Walter Stewart and Marjorie Bruce; her maternal grandfather was Hugh Ross and her maternal grandmother is Margaret Graham. She had two brothers and three sisters, named David, Walter, Marjorie, Egidia and Elizabeth.  She was the second oldest of the six children. She had five half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Walter, Robert, Robert III, Alexander, John, Isabella Eupheme, Jean and Elizabeth.  She died at the age of 82 on March 23rd, 1418 in Angusshire, Scotland.


Margaret's first family with John Dubh MacDonald

‌Margaret and John Dubh were married in a religious ceremony about 1363 in Scotland.  They had two sons and a daughter, named Donald, Alexander Carrach and Agnes.


Margaret's second family with William Douglas

They had a son and a daughter, named George and Margaret.
