Simon VI (Sunon) was born in 1209 in Leicester, Leicestershire, England or in France.  Simon VI (Sunon)'s father was Simon the Crusader de Montfort and his mother was Alix de Montmorency.  His paternal grandparents were Simon IV de Montfort and Amice FitzPernel de Beaumont; his maternal grandparents were Bouchard IV de Montmorency and Laurette de Hainault. He had three brothers and a sister, named Amaury, Guy, Robert and Amicia.  He was the youngest of the five children.  He died at the age of 56 in 1265 in Battle of Evesham, Evesham, Worchestershire, England.  He was buried in Evesham, Worchestershire, England.
