Sarah Jane was born in August 1833 in Walton, Kanawha County, Virginia. Sarah Jane's father was John David Shaver and her mother was Mary Parsons. Her paternal grandparents were Paul Shaver and Catherine Riffle. She had five brothers and three sisters, named Paul, John D., Henry S., Henderson, Angnus, Susannah, Mary Catherine and Sidney. She had five half-brothers and five half-sisters, named Edward, Perry G., Frank, Benjamin Franklin, Samuel L., Malinda, Agnes, Martha, Margaret Lydia and Louisa. She died after 1878 in Walton, Kanawha County, Virginia. She was buried in Vineyard farm near Poca River, 3 mi N of Walton,Kanawha County, Virginia.General Notes
