Sidney was born before 1840 in Green Creek, Roane County, West Virginia. Sidney's father was John David Shaver and her mother was Mary Parsons. Her paternal grandparents were Paul Shaver and Catherine Riffle. She had five brothers and three sisters, named Paul, John D., Henry S., Henderson, Angnus, Susannah, Mary Catherine and Sarah Jane. She had five half-brothers and five half-sisters, named Edward, Perry G., Frank, Benjamin Franklin, Samuel L., Malinda, Agnes, Martha, Margaret Lydia and Louisa. She died in 1853 in Leatherwood, Kanawaha County, Virginia.General Notes
