John David was born in Bourbon County, Kentucky.  John David's father was Paul Shaver and his mother was Catherine Riffle.  His paternal grandparents were Paul Shaver and Elizabeth Vogt; his maternal grandparents were Francis Riffle and UNKNOWN Eleanor. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Jacob, Christopher, Balsor, Paul, Christian, Anne and Daughter.  He died in 1871 in Green Creek, Roane County, West Virginia.  He was buried in Vineyard farm near Poca River.


John David's first family with Mary Parsons

‌John David and Mary were married in a religious ceremony on February 28th, 1817 in Harrison County, West Virginia.  They had five sons and four daughters, named Paul, John D., Henry S., Henderson, Angnus, Susannah, Mary Catherine, Sarah Jane and Sidney.


John David's second family with Nancy Tanner

‌John David and Nancy were married in a religious ceremony on May 5th, 1836 in Ripley, Jackson County, Virginia.  They had five sons and five daughters, named Edward, Perry G., Frank, Benjamin Franklin, Samuel L., Malinda, Agnes, Martha, Margaret Lydia and Louisa.


John David's third family with Lydia Cottrell

‌John David and Lydia were married in a religious ceremony on January 15th, 1856 in Kanawha (now Roane) County, West Virginia.
