Henderson was born in December 1833 in Walton, Kanawha County, Virginia.  Henderson's father was John David Shaver and his mother was Mary Parsons.  His paternal grandparents were Paul Shaver and Catherine Riffle. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Paul, John D., Henry S., Angnus, Susannah, Mary Catherine, Sarah Jane and Sidney. He had five half-brothers and five half-sisters, named Edward, Perry G., Frank, Benjamin Franklin, Samuel L., Malinda, Agnes, Martha, Margaret Lydia and Louisa.  He died after 1894.  He was buried in Cart Cemetery, Wills Creek, Kanawha County, West Virginia.


Henderson's first family with Alicianna Blackshire

‌Henderson and Alicianna were married in a religious ceremony on July 6th, 1858 in Pocatalico, Kanawha County, Virginia.  They had three sons and four daughters, named Henry F., Albert Henderson, Edward James, Mary C., Julia Ann, Rebecca and Louisa.


Henderson's second family with Malissa E. Shaffer

‌Henderson and Malissa E. were married in a religious ceremony on December 10th, 1875 in Roane County, West Virginia.  They had two sons and a daughter, named William F., Charles Estil and Mahala E..
