Thomas Henry was born on December 4th, 1833 in Pennsylvania. Thomas Henry's father was Johan Philip Jr. Knappenberger and his mother was Anna Schmoyer. His paternal grandparents were Johan Philip Knappenberger and Gertrude Jarrett; his maternal grandparents were Daniel Schmoyer and Catherine Albright. He had four brothers and five sisters, named Harrison, John Joseph, Charles Francis, Eli Jeremias, Catherine Clarissa, Amelia, Caroline, Anna Angeline and Ellen Jane. He was the fifth oldest of the ten children. He died at the age of 75 on March 31st, 1909 in South Whitehall Township, Lehigh Pennsylvania.
