Catherina was born about 1719 in Hanover, Germany or Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. Catherina's father was Johann George Heilig and her mother was Anna Margaretha. Her paternal grandparents were Johannes Heilig and UNKNOWN Barbara. She had a brother and two sisters, named George, Maria Margaret and Elizabeth Barbara. She was the oldest of the four children.
