Johan Michael was born on August 27th, 1709 in Widdern, Jagst/Jagstkreis, Wuerttemberg, Germany.  Johan Michael's father was Johan Albrecht Knappenberger and his mother was Anna Katherina.  His paternal grandparents were Wolff Albrecht Knappenberger and Anna Maria Schmidt. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Erhard, Michael, Johan Erhard, Maria Barbara, Anna Maria and Christina Maria.  He was the second youngest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 41 on June 13th, 1751 in Lower Macungie Township,Northampton (later Lehigh County), Pennsylvania.  He was buried in Lehigh Church, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania.

‌Johan Michael and Anna Magdalene were married in a religious ceremony before 1734 in Wuerttemberg, Germany.  They had a son and two daughters, named Johan George Sebastian, Maria Dorothea and Maria Luise.

‌Johan Michael and Catherina were married in a religious ceremony on May 15th, 1739 in Six Corner Church(St Pauls Lutheran),Red Hill,Montgomery County,Pennsylvania.  They had three sons and three daughters, named Johan Henrich, Johan George, Conrad, Susanna Margaretha, Maria Anna Barbara and Catharina Margaretha.
