Richard was born in Wincester, Hampshire, England.  Richard's father was John "Lackland" King of England and his mother was Isabella De Angouleme.  His paternal grandparents were Henry II Plantagenet King of England and Eleanor of Aquitaine; his maternal grandparents were Aymer de Taillefer and Alix De Courtenay. He had a brother and three sisters, named Henry III, Joane, Isabel and Eleanor. He had fourteen half-brothers and six half-sisters, named Osbert, Oliver, Geoffrey, John, Henry, Richard, Eudo, Ivo, Hugh XI, Guy, Geoffrey, Guillaume de Lusignan, Guillaume, Aymer Ademar, Isabel "la Blanche", Joan, Alice, Isabella, Maurgarite and Agatha.  He died on April 2nd, 1272 in Berkhamstead, Herefordshire, England.  He was buried on April 13th, 1272 in Hailes Abbey, Hailes, Gloucestershire, England.

‌Richard and Sancha were married in a religious ceremony on November 23rd, 1243 in Westminster Abbey, Westminster, Middlesex, England.  They had three sons named Richard, Edmund and Richard.
